To the burdened pastor

I know there are pastors that are facing unimaginable burdens in their lives right now. Know one who has not been a pastor can imagine the terrible weight and burden that come from shepherding the flock of God. Few besides those who have stood as those who are to proclaim God’s word to His people and to the lost know what Jeremiah speaks of when he says:

For the wound of the daughter of my people is my heart wounded;  I mourn, and dismay has taken hold on me. Is there no balm in Gilead?   Is there no physician there?
Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored? (Jer 8:21-22)

John Piper once asked, “How do you do heart work when the heart is under siege and ready to fall?” If your in that place I would commend John Piper’s message Charles Spurgeon:Preaching Through Adversity
